We are pleased to be launching a new blog and monthly update from Roots.
Roots works in Grande-Synthe, near Dunkirk, providing practical daily support for displaced people. Our work includes access to fresh water, hot showers, hygiene support, phone charging, Wi-Fi, environmental care, and support around food distribution in partnership with other organisations.
Over time, we have realised that one of the most important things we can do is communicate our work more clearly and more regularly.
People often want to know what is happening on the ground, what Roots has been working on, what challenges we are facing, and how their support is making a difference. Volunteers, donors, fundraisers, partners and supporters all want a clearer window into the day-to-day reality of the work. This blog is intended to provide that.
From now on, we will be sharing a monthly update covering the previous month’s work, along with occasional additional posts when there is specific news to share. Some posts will focus on practical updates from the field. Others will explain particular parts of our work, highlight volunteer experiences, share impact figures, or set out urgent needs as they arise.
We want this space to be useful, honest and informative.
That means we will use it to share:
monthly updates on our work
key developments on the ground
news about our projects and priorities
stories from volunteers and supporters
information about current needs
clearer explanations of how donations and support help
We also hope this blog will help people better understand the reality of the work Roots does, and why sustained support matters.
Small charities often carry out vital practical work, but do not always have the time to stop and explain it properly. We want to improve that. Better communication helps build understanding, trust and connection. It also helps show what is possible when people choose to support frontline humanitarian work.
Thank you for being here and for taking an interest in Roots. Whether you donate, volunteer, fundraise, share our posts, or simply follow our work, your support matters. We look forward to sharing regular updates with you.
